Moldova closer to the registration of products with Potected Geographical Indication

        On 18th of September 2015, within the project « Moldavian Culinary Routes – Registration and Promotion of Local and Regional Products from Călărași District », financed by Polish development cooperation programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, the Ecological Movement of Moldova together with the Development Policy Foundation held a roundtable on «Registration of Moldovan food products as protected geographical indications – realities and perspectives ».

      The event brought together representatives of Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova, the Agency for Intellectual Property, ANSA (National Agency for Food Safety). At the event were discussed the stage where Moldova is now in what concerns the geographical indications, the legislative aspects and the advantages of a such certification.

     Currently, there are 2 products that are promoted within the project « Moldavian Culinary Routes – Registration and Promotion of Local and Regional Products from Călărași District » to be registered as protected geographical indications : roses petal jam from Calarasi, and the Nimoreni apricot brandy.
