Two Moldovan products are given the protected geographical indication

       On 16th of December 2015, the Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture approved the specifications of 2 products with protected geographical indication: Dulceata din petale de trandafir Calarasi (Calarasi Roses petal jam) and Rachiu de caise de Nimoreni (Nimoreni apricot brandy).

      This decision was the result of a big and hard work realized by the team of the « Moldavian Culinary Routes – Registration and Promotion of Local and Regional Products from Călărași District » project, financed by Polish development cooperation programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. During the project’s implementation period, the Development Policy Foundation together with its partners from Moldova organized various activities: roundtables, conferences, promotion events, study visits meant to promote the benefits of EU integration for residents of rural areas by bringing Polish experience on registration of regional products and create effective partnerships between NGOs and local government for the registration and development of regional products. Within the project, producers of roses petal jam from Calarasi and apricot brandy from Nimoreni, benefited of full support from the project’s team in the elaboration of the specification process and facilitation of the applying process.

     Currently, the two products are in process of national registration evaluation process at the AGEPI.
